Republicans look to abolish TSA in favor of private security at airports

Republican senators are introducing a measure to abolish the Transportation Security Administration. They claim it has “intruded into the privacy and personal space” of Americans.

Sens. Mike Lee and Tommy Tuberville are leading the bill, which proposes privatizing security needs three years after the bill’s establishment.

Lee and Tuberville state that the TSA has failed safety tests and infringes on freedoms, advocating for privatization.

Legislative support is uncertain, with Republicans holding a majority but facing a 60-vote threshold to overcome a filibuster.
