President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that the Republican party would hold a convention ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Trump teased the idea of hosting a convention just weeks ago, which, according to him, would highlight GOP successes since the 2024 Presidential election.

“We have raised far more money than the Democrats, and are having a great time fixing all of the Country Destroying mistakes made by the Biden Administration, and watching the USA heal and prosper,” Trump said in a Truth Social post last month. Meanwhile, Democrats are reportedly considering a similar move.

The moves come amid a redistricting battle between both major parties.
