Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed a lawsuit in Wisconsin to remove his name from the presidential ballot after the state elections commission decided to keep him on it. Kennedy argued that state law discriminates against third-party candidates compared to Republicans and Democrats.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission voted 5-1 to maintain Kennedy’s ballot presence. State election laws require candidates to stay on the ballot once filed, unless they die. Withdrawing candidacy is not a valid reason to remove a candidate’s name from the ballot.
