The Muslim Brotherhood could be designated as a terrorist group, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio said the Trump administration is taking the proper steps to identify the group as a terror organization accurately.

“You have to show your work like the – like a math problem when you go before court,” he said in an interview with host Sid Rosenberg. “So we have to go through this process internally where you have to do the review, you have to document and justify what it is.”

Rubio noted that the process is lengthy and could face opposition from the group in court. The Muslim Brotherhood has been linked to Hamas, which has been classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. since 1997.

Other nations like Egypt and Saudi Arabia have already classified the group as a terror group.
