Ryan Routh was charged with attempted assassination of President Donald Trump and faces five criminal counts, including a weapons charge, following his arrest on Sept. 15 at Trump International Golf Club in Florida. The Department of Justice claims Routh sought to purchase anti-aircraft weapons and stated he needed equipment to prevent Trump from being elected.
