A United States Secret Service officer accidentally shot himself while on duty in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night. The “negligent discharge” of the firearm occurred near 32nd and Fessenden Streets at about 8 p.m.
The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, with no other injuries reported. No other individuals are reported to have been harmed in the incident, according to Lt. Paul Mayhair, a uniformed officer with the Secret Service. No other details have been shared at this time.
