Conservative voters found former President Donald Trump’s softened tone at the Republican National Convention a welcome change, according to a report from The Associated Press. Trump addressed his recent assassination attempt, calling for an end to division in politics during his speech in Milwaukee on Thursday, July 18.

“It’s more of a conversation with the American people,” Dave Struthers, a farmer from Iowa, said when commenting on the former president’s changed approach to his speech to accept the Republican nomination for president.
