President Donald J. Trump and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a productive phone conversation regarding efforts toward a ceasefire and improved defense cooperation, according to Trump. During the call, Zelenskyy requested additional air defense systems, which Trump promised to explore, as reported by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
The leaders agreed on a partial ceasefire concerning energy and will hold technical meetings in Saudi Arabia to broaden this ceasefire, as stated by their advisors. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for U.S. support, particularly regarding missile systems and humanitarian efforts, highlighting successful exchanges of POWs as a positive outcome.
