American journalist Taylor Lorenz defended Luigi Mangione during a CNN segment, saying he seemed like a “morally good man.” This comment angered many social media users, calling it “heinous.”

Mangione, 26, stands trial for the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Prosecutors accused Mangione of fatally shooting Thompson in Midtown Manhattan in December 2024.

Lorenz, known for her controversies, claimed that the appeal for Mangione showcases a disconnect between mainstream media narratives and public sentiment.

After Thompson’s murder, Lorenz expressed that she felt “joy” over the aftermath. She said it highlighted the “barbaric nature of our healthcare system.”
