A 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty to assault and robbery charges against former DOGE employee Edward Coristine, who calls himself “Big Balls.” A 15-year-old girl faces similar charges in the same incident. The attack allegedly involved a larger group of teens swarming Coristine and assaulting him.
President Donald Trump is advocating to try the teenagers as adults and said he wants to “lock them up for a long time.”

Trump federalized D.C. police and deployed National Guard forces to the capital soon after the Coristine assault.
Since then, Democrats and local authorities have cautiously supported some of Trump’s efforts to mitigate crime in the capital city, while also expressing alarm about actions they view as excessive or abusive.
One city council member wrote: “We’re under siege by our own fed govt. The military occupation of DC is unlawful, unwarranted, and unwelcome.”
