Texas Rep. Al Green, D, announced plans to introduce articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, citing his proposal for the U.S. to take over Gaza. Green labeled Trump’s proposal as potential ethnic cleansing.
“The movement to impeach the president has begun,” Green said Wednesday, Feb. 5. “I rise to announce that I will bring articles of impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”
During a Tuesday press conference, Trump suggested relocating the entire population of Gaza, which he claimed could lead to long-term peace in the Middle East.
The Gaza Strip is currently experiencing conflict due to the war between Israel and Hamas, which has devastated the region.
Green stated, “To whom it may concern, ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke,” emphasizing the seriousness of Trump’s comments.
