House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar dismissed attempts to impeach President Donald Trump on Tuesday, April 29. Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., introduced seven articles of impeachment against Trump for abuse of power and “flagrant” violations of the U.S. Constitution.
“Impeachment is, at times, a tool that can be used. This president is no stranger to that; he’s been impeached twice,” Aguilar said. “But we don’t have any confidence that House and Senate Republicans would do their jobs. And so this is not an exercise that we’re willing to undertake.”
Aguilar stated that they lack confidence in House and Senate Republicans to carry out their duties.
