The U.S. military’s new submarine drone, the Manta Ray, was spotted on Google Maps at California’s Port Hueneme naval base. This unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV), designed by Northrop Grumman for DARPA, is part of a new class of long-duration, long-range UUVs for Navy use. The Manta Ray successfully completed full-scale testing earlier this year off Southern California. The tests validated its readiness for real-world operations. This advanced UUV can glide through water without human operators and is seen as a significant innovation for persistent maritime operations.
