The U.S. Treasury building and Hotel Washington were evacuated due to a report of a suspicious package near the White House. The United States Secret Service responded to the scene after the suspicious package call.


The Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team was also involved but later deemed the area safe. Road closures occurred in downtown areas, including the White House and Ellipse, due to the incident. The street closures remained closed at least through the afternoon of Thursday, April 3.
