The White House is launching a review of several Smithsonian museums in accordance with President Donald Trump’s “directive to celebrate American exceptionalism, remove divisive or partisan narratives.” The Trump administration sent a letter to the Smithsonian saying its goal is to “restore confidence in our shared cultural institutions.”
At least eight museums, including the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Museum of the American Indian, are set to be reviewed. The institutions will have 120 days to begin implementing changes to ensure historical accuracy and inclusive depictions of the United States.
