The Trump administration laid off approximately 90 people from the General Services Administration, including all members of the 18F tech team, who focused on improving federal digital services. 18F, formed during the Obama administration, worked on projects like IRS Direct File and covid.gov, which helped millions access important services.

Emails sent to employees stated that their positions were being eliminated as part of an agency reduction-in-force. Jeff White from the General Services Administration confirmed that the layoffs complied with executive orders aimed at reducing the federal workforce.
