At least eight senior federal prosecutors who worked on the Jan. 6 cases have been demoted to entry-level jobs, according to multiple sources and memos obtained by CNN. Ed Martin, the acting U.S. attorney, is seen as retaliating against the prosecutors to force resignations, as noted by sources.

Several prosecutors resigned in protest against Martin’s abrupt actions, including Denise Cheung, who refused to investigate the Biden administration’s climate funding. Martin openly supports Donald Trump and has been linked to the controversial actions within the Justice Department, according to various reports.
