Switzerland is currently in talks with the U.S. over a proposed reduction in tariffs on Swiss exports. The outcome could lower the rate from 39% to 15%.

President Donald Trump confirmed the negotiations, stating that the U.S. wants Switzerland to remain economically strong and competitive. “We hit Switzerland very hard. But we want Switzerland to remain successful,” he said.

The tariffs have placed significant pressure on Switzerland’s dairy industry, where producers have struggled with reduced demand from the U.S. market. Some Swiss farmers have reportedly been forced to downsize their herds or send cows to slaughter earlier than planned.
