Senate lawmakers questioned Billy Long, President Donald Trump’s nominee for IRS Commissioner, about his views on presidential authority over the IRS and dubious tax credits. Billy Long stated he would “promptly examine” the Direct File program, which he called “one of the hottest topics at the IRS.”
Democratic lawmakers expressed concerns regarding unusually timed contributions to Long’s defunct 2022 Senate campaign committee after his nomination.
Long testified he has never met anyone from White River Energy Corporation and only made referrals to firms like Capitol Edge Strategies.
