Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has now proposed getting rid of taxes on Social Security payments for seniors in an effort to attract voters. This is according to his most recent campaign announcement.
According to the Tax Foundation, fully exempting Social Security benefits for the elderly could cost at least about $1.6 trillion in a decade.
The Social Security Administration reported that right now, around 40% of seniors have to pay taxes on their Social Security benefits.
