President Donald Trump proposed a plan that would tap foreign companies to teach American workers skills needed to flourish in high-tech industries. “If we didn’t do this, all of that massive Investment will never come in the first place—Chips, Semiconductors, Computers, Ships, Trains, and so many other products that we have to learn from others how to make, or, in many cases, relearn, because we used to be great at it, but not anymore,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
The revelation comes just days after hundreds of South Korean workers on assignment under similar circumstances at a Hyundai manufacturing plant in Georgia were arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It marked the Trump administration’s largest-scale raid to date.
In Sunday’s post, Trump said he didn’t want to “frighten off” countries and companies from investing in the U.S. Following their arrests last week, 300 South Korean workers were flown back home.
