President Donald Trump said he plans to meet with representatives from 14 health insurance companies to discuss lowering prices soon. He made the announcement in a meeting with House Republicans.

“I’m going to meet with them in a few days, I’m meeting with them all: 14 companies,” Trump said.

COVID-era subsidies expired on Dec. 31, affecting many Americans who purchase insurance through the Affordable Care Act marketplace, which 24 million people use to buy their own policies.

Polling indicated that approximately 25% of ACA enrollees might forgo coverage in 2026 if premiums doubled, with average annual payments expected to rise to $1,904.
