President Donald Trump voiced approval for the Senate’s agreement to end the ongoing government shutdown. Trump described it as “a very good deal” and confirmed that he would uphold it.
“I think based on everything I’m hearing, they haven’t changed anything, and we have support from enough Democrats, and we’re going to be opening up our country, he said. The Senate voted 60–40 to advance the measure, marking a bipartisan effort that included support from eight Democratic senators.
The agreement aims to reopen the government after a 41-day closure, restoring pay and benefits to federal employees. However, it does not include an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies, which had been a key Democratic priority.
