President Donald Trump has floated the idea of organizing a Republican National Convention ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The move would mark a significant departure from political tradition.

“The Republican Party is doing really well,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “We won every aspect of the Presidential Election and, based on the great success we are having, are poised to WIN BIG IN THE MIDTERMS.”

Meanwhile, Democrats are considering the possibility of their own pre-midterm convention as they seek to regain ground in Congress. While midterms have historically spelled losses for the party in power, some political observers believe Republicans could minimize setbacks in 2026, even with Trump’s approval ratings remaining under pressure.
