President Donald Trump, in a press conference, said he is not a dictator but that “a lot of people are saying, ‘Maybe we would like a dictator.’” The comments follow the president’s announcement of plans to expand the National Guard’s presence in cities across the country, including Chicago and New York.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said Trump is deploying troops to cities with leaders who disagree with him. “Donald Trump wants to use the military to occupy a U.S. city, punish his dissidents and score political points,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president said his administration is ready to deploy the National Guard to any city that is facing violent crime issues.
