Following the federalization of the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department, President Donald Trump is targeting Chicago. He announced plans for a federal takeover of the city to reduce crime.

“I think Chicago will be our next, and then we’ll help with New York,” he said in the Oval Office. Trump went on to call the city’s mayor, Brandon Johnson, “incompetent” and claimed federal intervention is what the city’s residents are calling for.

Trump’s announcement was met with criticism from Johnson as well as Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. “The problem with the President’s approach is that it is uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound,” Johnson said.
