Cryptocurrency prices fell significantly due to the threat of a trade war between the U.S. and major trading partners, with some digital assets dropping over 10%. Bitcoin’s value fell below $100,000 after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for large tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China.
Ethereum, Dogecoin, and other cryptocurrencies also experienced price drops since Trump’s weekend tariff announcement. Trump indicated that import taxes would occur with the European Union and possibly the United Kingdom, warning Americans they may experience some pain from the tariffs.
