A federal judge temporarily blocked the government from enforcing a provision that would have prevented Medicaid from reimbursing Planned Parenthood health centers following a lawsuit from Planned Parenthood and its members. The lawsuit claims the provision targets Planned Parenthood over abortion access and could harm services for over a million patients using Medicaid each year.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani’s order requires continued disbursement of Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood for 14 days until a hearing is set for July 21. The order granted the temporary restraining order shortly after Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit, stating the provision was unconstitutional.
