A U.S. judge has temporarily halted deportations of Venezuelan men under the Alien Enemies Act amid ongoing legal challenges. U.S. intelligence reports indicate that the Trump administration’s claim that the gang Tren de Aragua is invading the U.S. is untrue.

The judge, David Briones, in El Paso, says that lawyers with the federal government “have not demonstrated they have any lawful basis” to continue the arrests on suspects members of the gang Tren de Aragua. The ruling applies to Brione’s district, not the entire country.
