Vietnam pledges to crack down on illicit transshipment of Chinese goods: Report

Vietnam plans to tighten controls on Chinese goods exported to the U.S. to address concerns about tariffs, according to a government document seen by Reuters. Vietnam’s government announced it would crack down on trade fraud following discussions with U.S. officials.

The U.S. has raised concerns that China uses Vietnam to evade tariffs on products labeled “Made in Vietnam,” prompting Vietnam to start trade talks with U.S. officials on April 9. Vietnam aims to maintain its trade relationship with the U.S. while balancing its ties with China, which remains a significant investment source.
