The state of Virginia has removed over 6,300 non-citizens who registered to vote. Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, R, announced this in an executive order.

The executive order is meant “to protect the casting of legal ballots by legally eligible voters” who are taking part in Virginian elections.

Gov. Youngkin said that it is important for election security measures to align with both state and federal laws, as that should help voting integrity.

Youngkin issued the executive order on Wednesday, Aug. 8, removing non-citizens from the state’s voter rolls.
