Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison will both testify in front of the House Oversight Committee on March 4. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the committee’s chair, confirmed the pair would answer questions about fraud allegations within Minnesota’s social services programs.

Former First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson previously announced that fraud uncovered in autism, Medicaid, and housing programs in Minnesota could total as high as $9 billion or more.

The House Oversight Committee recently heard testimony from Minnesota state lawmakers who stated that Walz and Ellison failed to act to stop widespread fraud and retaliated against whistleblowers who raised concerns.
