Officials announced that President Donald Trump will participate in the 51st G7 Summit, scheduled to take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17, 2025. Trump’s planned attendance follows Canada’s hosting of the annual meeting of G7 member countries, including itself, the U.S., France, the UK, Germany, Japan, Italy and the EU.
The summit will mark Prime Minister Mark Carney’s first as leader after his minority government win on April 28, and Carney and Trump previously met face-to-face on May 6. Carney responded to Trump’s ongoing remarks about annexing Canada by telling him the country “won’t be for sale,” while Trump took credit for Carney’s political resurgence.
Trump’s attendance continues the tradition of G7 leaders discussing global economic issues, with the White House promising further logistical details after the May 22 briefing.
