The United States is studying the cost of potentially occupying Greenland, as reported by the Washington Post. According to the report, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget is analyzing various factors, including what it costs to service the nation’s 58,000 residents, how its natural resources could benefit the U.S., and how the U.S. could provide more than the $600 million annual subsidies Greenland currently receives from Denmark.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that a U.S. invasion would meet unified diplomatic condemnation and economic sanctions from Europe.
Vice President JD Vance criticized Denmark’s investment in Greenland, asserting it has underinvested in the island’s people and security.
