White House: ‘Ultimate’ US goal is to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapon

U.S. President Donald Trump stated there will be “all hell to pay” if Iran does not abandon its nuclear program, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Trump’s ultimate goal is to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon while believing in diplomacy, according to Leavitt.

Ahead of U.S. talks with Iran in Oman, Trump insisted all options remain on the table if diplomatic efforts fail. Iran recently rejected Trump’s offer for direct talks, stating that the upcoming meetings in Oman would involve indirect engagement.
