A security guard was suspended for demanding proof of gender from Ansley Baker while in a women’s restroom at The Liberty Hotel during a Kentucky Derby party. Baker, who identifies as a woman, reported that the guard confronted her and her partner, Liz Victor, questioning their presence in the women’s restroom.

The Liberty Hotel stated it is retraining staff on inclusive practices and plans to donate to a local LGBTQ+ organization following the incident.

Baker described the incident as humiliating and has since filed complaints with state agencies to prevent similar incidents.
