On July 13, 2024, bullets sliced through the sky at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, resulting in one supporter’s death and clipping Donald Trump’s ear. A pro-Trump columnist present at that rally, Salena Zito, wrote a book about that incident: “Butler: The Untold Story of the Near Assassination of Donald Trump and the Fight for America’s Heartland.”

Earlier this month, Zito’s book “Butler” topped the New York Times bestseller list and moved into Amazon’s top 10. On July 16, she announced a film adaptation was in production, saying that it will release next year and would cover both her career and the Butler, PA events, according to “The Sean Spicer Show.”

Now teaming up with Pense Productions, Zito’s book will be adapted into a film directed by Brett Ratner, who Prime Video says will direct.

Regarding casting, Zito joked that “everyone tells me” Marisa Tomei should play the lead, although no lead cast is confirmed yet.
