Elon Musk has become a pivotal and highly controversial figure in Donald Trump’s second term as president. His stance on free speech has also been contentious, with critics accusing him of hypocrisy due to actions and statements that sometimes contradict his stated principles.
Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey reviews some of what he calls the “hypocrisy” of Elon Musk, Donald Trump and the MAGA movement on free speech issues, and warns that the legal ambiguity of Musk’s quasi-official position is a deliberate tool to shield him from public accountability.
The following is an excerpt from the above video:
Here’s the other thing: Who is Elon? Is he qualified to be in charge of the DOGE? I call it DODGE office. How did he get the job? The White House just shared he’s technically not even an employee of DOGE, not at all. His authority is not an authority.
The White House had to answer to a lawsuit filed by another state citing, basically, you got a conflict with Elon here in charge of the office that’s getting rid of federal government contracts, when he himself has federal government contracts. Conflict of interest, filed the lawsuit, and the White House had to respond per White House Counsel, [saying that] Elon Musk is actually not an employee of the agency. He’s what you call an SGE. Have you ever heard of this? No, we would not know about it if it had not been for a state willing to file the proper civil charge, the allegation.
White House responds: Elon Musk works as an SGE, special government employee, which makes him just an adviser to the president of the United States. It also said in the response, the White House response says, that he has no official authority. He does not directly have any official authority or capacity to implement anything in the department.
What is that really about? That simply means Elon gets to play president, but have zero liability, avoid the conflict-of-interest lawsuit. These individuals have thought this out, now they are creating question. If they spent half their time thinking about how to advocate for you, this world would be a much better place.
