An aging fleet of so-called Doomsday Planes are set to be replaced by 2036. After a 54-year run, Boeing will no longer be running the show, a new company has been awarded the contract to produce the planes. The planes meant for national security in case of a nuclear attack are capable of becoming command center if the unthinkable were to happen, allowing communication between the president and the secretary of defense.
