House Dems launch united effort against election bill requiring voters prove citizenship

House Democrats launched a united effort to vote against a Republican-backed election bill that would require voters provide proof of citizenship to cast ballots in federal elections.

Party leaders are pushing other House Democrats to reject the requirement for proof of U.S. citizenship in the upcoming vote. Minority Whip Katherine Clark is one of the officials actively discouraging Democrats from supporting the Republican bill.

Added: Even if the bill passes in the House, it will likely be delayed in the Senate.
