Let’s hear from House Freedom Caucus in federal budget talks
As the end of the federal government’s fiscal year approaches, Congress and President Joe Biden must pass a new budget. The United States is grappling with $32 trillion in national debt, and politicians have yet to reach a consensus on federal funding allocation, with the threat of a government shutdown growing larger by the day.

Republicans need to unite around one candidate
Twelve candidates are vying for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. While former President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner, a slew of contenders and long shots is jockeying for a chance at the White House. Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker believes that Republicans should consolidate their support behind a single candidate and that the most

Elections are about ideas, not superficial entertainment
Americans in both parties lament the era of what they call entertainment politics, where insults, gossip, and TV ads sell better than real ideas. Recent elections have seen entertainment professionals running against — and often beating — those who discuss policy solutions. Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker argues that citizens and journalists need to

Migrant onslaught in New York City is President Biden’s responsibility
New York City council members are raising concerns about the migrant crisis in the city, calling it “completely out of control” and “unsustainable.” Queens Councilwoman Vickie Paladino cautioned that the surge in illegal immigration is negatively affecting the quality of life for New Yorkers. New York City Mayor Eric Adams said the city has reached

‘Bidenomics’ shouldn’t get any credit for good economic news
Core inflation is cooling. Job growth is up, business investment is rising. There’s good economic news out there but the question is: Who gets the credit? President Biden is pointing to “Bidenomics” — his strategy of growing the economy “from the middle out and bottom up,” a departure from President Reagan’s “trickle-down” economics. Republicans like

Left should stop blaming others for US military challenges
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., has blocked hundreds of military nominations, expressing his opposition to the Defense Department’s abortion policy that grants paid time off and travel expenses for active duty members who undergo an abortion. President Joe Biden and other left-leaning politicians have criticized Tuberville, asserting that his actions pose a threat to national security

Left distorting Florida’s ‘Stop WOKE Act’ curriculum changes
On June 19, the Florida Department of Education (FOE) updated its guidelines for its Black history curriculum in Florida’s public schools. This follows Gov. Ron DeSantis‘ signing of the “Stop WOKE Act” last year. The new standards say discussions about race must be taught in an “objective manner” and should describe the skills enslaved people learned

Biden’s take on student loans a big step backward for our nation
President Biden’s first student loan forgiveness plan lasted just 10 months, and then the Supreme Court shut it down. His new repayment plan — to use the Higher Education Act (HEA) — will cost the government $475 billion over the next decade, according to a new economic projection, surpassing the $400 billion cost of the plan that

Ending affirmative action promotes a fair and free society
The divisive Supreme Court ruling that banned race-based admissions has effectively ended affirmative action at colleges and universities. President Biden has said the decision reverses progress while Chief Justice John Roberts stated affirmative action is racially discriminatory and unconstitutional. Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker argues that basing admissions on merit, not the color of one’s

Taxes shouldn’t fund abortion travel for service members
Pro-life organizations are urging House Republicans to repeal an existing Department of Defense policy that provides reimbursement for travel expenses related to military service members’ abortions. The coalition of nearly 50 pro-life organizations and think tanks believes the policy is not legal, and they have asked lawmakers to use the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

Parents must have a voice in their children’s education
The issue of parents’ rights is a hot topic in public education. It comes up during political campaigns and debates covering everything from COVID-19 policy to what gets taught in school, including discussions of sexuality. We need to keep fighting for more abortion bans
It’s been just over a year since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that had legalized abortions nationwide. The 2022 ruling freed up individual states to make their own decisions about a woman’s access to abortion. So far, 14 states have enacted near-total abortion bans. Straight Arrow News

REINS Act needed to continue Trump’s fight against executive overreach
House Republicans have passed the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act (REINS Act) of 2023, which limits executive authority. The REINS Act would restore congressional oversight to regulatory rule-making by requiring every new “major rule” proposed by federal agencies to be approved by the House and Senate before taking effect. Biden should resign now instead of seeking four more years
If President Biden wins reelection, he will be 86 years old at the end of his second term. A majority of Americans, including 48% of Democrats, think Biden is too old to run again, but that hasn’t stopped him from throwing his hat back in the ring. In our first installment of a special Opinions
