Pearson’s phone was seized by the FBI as part of one of four separate legal probes into City Hall. Then 10 days later, Zornberg announced her departure in a letter saying, “I am tendering my resignation, effective today, as I have concluded I can no longer effectively serve in my position.”

Adams told reporters on Sunday at the African American Day Parade that Zornberg was looking to “go on with her next level of her professional life.”

On Sept. 12, New York City Police Commissioner Edward Caban stepped down after FBI agents raided his phone and seized his cellphone. Caban’s lawyers said he is not the target of an investigation and he will cooperate fully with the government.

Investigators have been monitoring Adams and his administration since last November. At that time, the mayor’s chief fundraiser was raided by FBI agents. Neither Adams nor his staff were charged with any wrongdoing.
