FedEx, one of the nation’s largest delivery services, is warning drivers to be extra cautious with truck robberies and carjackings are on the rise. FedEx says it’s offering tips for drivers to remain safe, including making sure windows and doors are locked whenever possible.

In Chula Vista, California, men in hoodies, masks and gloves, surrounded a delivery truck. Police say they’re looking into whether this robbery is linked to similar incidents.

It’s a nationwide issue. Just last month, NBC reported an Amazon truck driver was robbed at gunpoint in New Haven, Connecticut.

And in Memphis, Tennessee, a group of people surrounded a FedEx truck, forcefully opening the rear doors and stealing packages.

An investigation is ongoing, but the incident prompted FedEx to send a security alert to its nearly 7,000 independent drivers, asking them to treat their safety as a priority.

FedEx says they always monitor crime and change policies to put safety at the forefront for its employees.

With the holidays in full swing, deliveries are, too. It’s still unclear if tips from shipping companies will be enough to prevent robberies and attacks in the weeks ahead.
