House approves $1 billion in funding for Israel’s Iron Dome

Full story

The House of Representatives voted on Thursday to approve $1 billion in funding for Israel’s Iron Dome. The 420-9 vote came after heated debate on the House floor over whether or not to fund the aerial defense system.

Democrats had initially tried to tie funding for the defense system into a larger bill to fund the American government, but they removed Iron Dome funding from that bill after members of their own caucus objected.

The Senate will now vote on its own version of the bill funding the Iron Dome.
