Ida hit the Gulf Coast as a category four hurricane, proving deadly and destructive. Days later, Ida’s wrath continued to be felt throughout the Northeast. New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania all declared states of emergency due to the deadly flooding. But how could Ida remain so deadly more than a thousand miles from landfall?
