Madonna sued over sexually explicit tour performance, lack of AC in venue

Full story

Pop icon Madonna is embroiled in a legal dispute with a fan who claims he was exposed to “pornography without warning” during her recent concert in Los Angeles. The fan, who attended the March 7 show at the Kia Forum, alleges that Madonna’s sexually explicit performance blindsided him.

In a lawsuit filed against the singer, he claimed he felt deceived and “forced to watch” what he describes as a “pornographic film being made.” The fan is suing Madonna for emotional distress and false advertising.

The lawsuit also highlighted another issue: the lack of air conditioning in the arena.

According to the fan, the temperature inside the venue was “uncomfortably hot,” allegedly at Madonna’s insistence. She reportedly refused to allow the air conditioning to be turned on, leading the fan to become physically ill from profuse sweating, according to the suit.

Fans have previously complained about her reluctance to run air conditioning during her shows, as cited in the lawsuit. In a 2019 Florida concert, attendees chanted for air conditioning. Madonna’s response, according to the lawsuit, was fans could take their clothes off if they were hot.

This lawsuit isn’t the first time Madonna has faced legal action from her fans. Tardiness to perform is another recurring theme. The singer’s habit of starting shows late has led to frustration among concertgoers. Several lawsuits have been filed over the issue.

Madonna has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
