NASA announces Artemis crew chosen to fly around the moon

Full story

Four astronauts, including three Americans and one Canadian, have been chosen by NASA to complete a generation-defining mission to the moon’s orbit. It is the first of NASA’s Artemis missions to the moon with astronauts aboard the Artemis II.

Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Space Agency, will be the first people to return to the moon’s orbit after five decades.

The space explorers are set to fly further into space than any humans since the Apollo program. The astronauts will have a year to prepare themselves for life in space on the Artemis II, the world’s most powerful rocket. It is expected to launch in 2024.

This space mission will pave the way for another Artemis crew to walk on the moon in 2025.
