The Food and Drug Administration cleared the way for kid-size doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine last month. The vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 also passed final hurdles from advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a recommendation from CDC advisers, followed by a green light from Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC.
Now as major U.S. pharmacy chains prepare to provide Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to eligible children, parents are raising concerns. Polls show that many parents are on the fence about whether and when to vaccinate their younger kids.
