As Ukrainian forces battle Russian invaders, the U.S. continues to wage a war against the wealthiest Russians. President Biden unleashed financial sanctions against Russian banks and oligarchs.
Biden has targeted five Russian elites and their family members, along with two large Russian banks. The elite targeted by Biden are suspected of “participating in the Russian regime’s kleptocracy” and are barred from accessing any property or engaging in any transactions in the U.S., according to the U.S. Treasury Department.
The sanctions come as Moscow mounts a mass assault by land, sea and air on Ukraine in the biggest attack on a European state since World War II.
