Speaker McCarthy gives Tucker Carlson exclusive Jan. 6 footage

After the Jan. 6 House Committee concluded its investigation, several Republicans questioned the committee’s final report. They suggested the committee only showed America what the committee members wanted Americans to see.

According to an Axios report, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News host Tucker Carlson exclusive access to Capitol surveillance footage from Jan. 6. Carlson has repeatedly questioned official accounts on what happened that day.

Tucker Carlson’s team is getting what they have repeatedly asked for on national TV, which is access to all of the surveillance footage at the Capitol. Included in that request are multiple camera angles over the Capitol grounds on Jan. 6.

According to Axios, the archive is more than 40,000 hours of surveillance video, previously reported to be 14,000 hours. Tucker Carlson’s producers have been at the Capitol reviewing the footage since last week.

It’s not just the Fox News host asking to review the work of the Jan. 6 committee. Last month, McCarthy questioned the political motives of committee members. When a reporter asked him if he would release the footage, he said he would be engaged to do so.

“We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should be able to see all of what happened instead of a report written for political basis,” McCarthy said.
